The Football Blitz

This week there will be a battle in the bluegrass throughout the state of Kentucky as the Louisville Cardinals and the Kentucky Wildcats play or the Governor’s Cup trophy.  These two teams first played each other in the early 1900′s.  It wasn’t until the 1980′s and 1990′s that it became a more heated rivalry when the teams began playing on a regular basis.  The football rivalry has become more solidified over the last decade as both teams have battled up and down years.  What makes this a unique rivalry is that both teams play in different conferences (UK, SEC) and (UL, Big East), but it is not just a basketball and football rivalry.  Most of the Olympic sports at the schools play at least once during their particular season.  Test your knowledge of the Governor’s Cup below at the link.  Good Luck!
