Bearcats Blast the Big East

For the second straight year the Cincinnati Bearcats claim the Big East Title. The most impressive stat is their undefeated status finishing the season ranked fifth in the country with a record of 12-0 That is right, Cincinnati remained undefeated! I am sure the polls will change tomorrow so expect Cincy to finish third or fourth and they are definitely deserving of the higher ranking. After overcoming a 21 point deficit against Pittsburgh, Cincinnati rallied to win 45-44 in a very exciting last nine minutes of play. What will be most interesting is how the rest of the games today shape up. Florida vs Alabama and Texas vs Nebraska become very important games for the Bearcats. Their national title hopes hinge on Texas losing most of all. It is not likely to happen for the Bearcats, but they are BCS bound and their undefeated season could create some controversy in the BCS system as there seems to be controversy every year.

Football Fanatics Week 4

I missed a lot of college football this weekend being at the team hotel with the Arizona State Sun devils and then traveling back to Louisville. Here are my comments on the weekend games that I did manage to catch some of.

Thumbs Up to South Florida for overcoming losing Grothe at QB and beating the 18^th ranked Florida State Seminoles 17-7. Way to go Bulls!

Thumbs Up to the Arizona State Sun devils for playing hardnosed football against Georgia. The Sun devil defense was stellar and proved they are the real deal. Georgia got lucky on the last field goal.

Thumbs Up to Cincinnati for cracking the Top 10 in the AP Poll. Way to represent the Big East, Bearcats!

Thumbs Down to Florida leaving Tebow in the game too long allowing him to end up with a concussion. The game was over. Did they leave him in just to gain points in the polls and for the Heisman race? Bad decision.

Thumbs Down to The University of Louisville football program for continuing their downward spiral and possibly headed to becoming one of the worst D1 schools this year.

Thumbs Down to Penn State for losing to Iowa. Once again it appears the Nittany Lions were overrated as they have been in most recent seasons.
