The second week of college football proved anything can happen come game time. Several games went down to the wire making it an exciting and entertaining week of college football for all fans. Many teams out there have lots to be proud of as this weekend is drawing to a close, but many have a clear focus for improvement during the weeks to come. One thing you can be sure of, every athlete and team left it all on the field this weekend to provide their fans something to cheer about and to achieve the victory they are all striving for.

Thumbs UP

The Michigan Wolverines and Coach Rich Rodriguez put away the number 18 ranked Fighting Irish of Notre Dame late in the 4th quarter. Final Score 38-34.

Thumbs UP

The University of Houston defeated Oklahoma State (5) on the road. This is the 1st time in nearly 25 years Houston defeated a ranked opponent. The last time they accomplished this was against the 3rd ranked Texas Longhorns November 10, 1984.

Thumbs UP

Congratulations to Steve Sarkissian and the Washington Huskies for putting an end to the nations longest losing streak at 15 games. They beat Idaho today 42-23 to break the streak giving Sarkissian his first career win as a head coach.

Thumbs Down

The University of Tennessee could not put away UCLA after UCLA tried to give them the win. UT had 4 attempts at the end zone and could not convert on any of them to a touchdown. They held UCLA deep and got a safety which gave the Vols the ball back with 1:47 left on the clock and ended the game with Jonathon Crompton (UT quarterback) throwing an interception.

Thumbs Down

A BIG thumbs down to the schedule Boise State plays. Although, they can’t control a lot of their scheduling because they play in the WAC conference, it is hard to tell how truly good the team is when their competition is just mediocre. They did manage to beat Oregon last week, but not sure how great that will will look at the end of the season after watching the play of some other Pac-10 teams.
